If the name Hamilton only conjures up the tedious Formula 1 driver then rest assured that is all about to change very soon. ‘Hamilton’, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s visionary hip hop musical about the life and death of US founding father Alexander Hamilton is finally coming to London next year, and if it’s a tenth as good as the Broadway hype suggests then it’ll basically make every other attempt at entertainment in 2017 seem about as fresh as going back to ‘Pokémon Go’.

But who are the great rappers and dancers who’ll follow in the footsteps of Miranda and his Tony-winning compadres Leslie Odom Jr, Daveed Diggs and Renée Elise Goldsberry?

Very good question: we can be pretty sure it's not going to be Michael Ball.

In fact the producers aren’t sure themselves, which is where a potentially life-changing opportunity comes in for you if you can rap or hip hop dance: there will be open auditions in London on November 7 for men and woman in their thirties, of all ethnicities, with a UK/EU passport, who can rap or dance.

If you’re interested, send a CV and photo to hamiltoncasting@camack.co.uk.

And if you want to know what all the fuss is about, here’s the soundtrack for the smash-hit Broadway production.

No Honey Gs, please: this is going to be the biggest show of the decade.
