On Monday a security guard in Sainsbury’s on Hackney Road allegedly told a shopper that holding hands with his boyfriend was 'inappropriate'. You may remember a similar incident happening in a branch of the supermarket in Brighton a few years back when two women were also called 'inappropriate' for kissing in store. People reacted by holding a defiant mass kiss-a-thon in the shop where thousands puckered up. This was also the response after a gay couple were kicked out for snogging in the John Snow boozer in Soho.
Now, once again in protest against the homophobic remarks, people have organised a Big Gay Kiss In this Saturday at the offending Sainsbury's in east London.
It kicks off at 6.30pm and people are being encouraged to hold hands and get smooching.
