There's an adults-only ice-cream festival in an adventure playground this weekend

The latest event to give adults permission to regress is Slides and Scoops – a double whammy of ice cream and play happening this weekend. The event will see the brilliantly named Lumpy Hill Adventure Playground in Holloway overtaken by grown-ups desperate to go really, really high on the swings, clamber over outdoor structures and get hyper on sweets, and all without needing the excuse of a young child. In fact, children aren’t allowed, so you'll have the run of the playground without having to worry about falling over wayward kids.

As if that wasn't enough, between playing tag and hide-and-seek you can dive into a dizzying range of ice-cream stalls. Some companies will compete to create the most unique flavours just for the day – rumours are that burnt toast, bacon, avocado and lemon meringue will be making an appearance. And that’s alongside alcoholic ice-lollies, liquid nitrogen ice cream, Thai rolled ice cream and possibly a frozen treat made of crickets (no, we're not sure about that last one, either). There’ll also be live music and entertainment until you find yourself having a little nap in the Wendy House, at which point it’s definitely home time.

Slides and Scoops takes place on July 16. It’s free to attend by checking in on the Yelp app or by making a charitable £10 donation to Islington Play Association.
