There's a Christmas tree jousting flashmob happening this weekend

Here ye, here ye, heroic knights of London: on the off-chance you haven't chucked out your old Christmas tree, we've just found one way you can put it to good use. A bunch of flashmobbers are calling on all Londoners to take part in a few hours of 'tree jousting' on Parliament Hill this Saturday to fundraise for Calais. You'll need to arm yourselves with your festive firs, goggles, helmets, a few quid for the charity bucket, armour and anything else that'll save you from getting a splinter (or a trip to A&E), but fancy dress is optional. The same goes for horses.

If you're wondering why trees are being used instead of proper lances, there's a very good reason. After all the fun and games, they'll be processed into woodchip and donated to volunteers in Calais to improve conditions in the refugee camp. How's that for a win-win?

Check out the Facebook event page for more details.
