Back for its 61st year, the unveiling of the Christmas lights on Regent Street has always proven to be a big hit in the London advent calendar. This year, if you're into your classical music or ballet, you're in luck, as the ceremony on Sunday November 15 will be hosted by Myleene Klass and Aled Jones, while the lights themselves will be switched on by Darcey Bussell. If they don't float your boat, maybe traffic-free shopping between 12-7pm, live music and the unveiling of the Liberty Christmas windows at 12noon will get you in the festive mood. The lights, poetically named ‘Timeless Elegance’, are supposedly the most technologically advanced lights ever, taking inspiration from the history of Regent Street and its watchmaking heritage. Get there by 6pm to get a good spot to watch the old switcheroo.
