Weekends on the South Bank are going to be extra special this month, thanks to River Stage, the National Theatre’s free outdoor arts festival. There’s heaps of music, dance, theatre and silliness coming up, but this weekend should be especially fabulous as queer performance space-cum-boozer The Glory is in charge. Drag landlords Jonny Woo and John Sizzle will lead the proceedings with some of east London’s finest drag and cabaret stars taking to the stage. During the day, there’ll be family-friendly fun including a kids’ show like no other, a tropical beach party, drag life drawing, singalongs and an alternative tea dance. At night the heat will be turned up with a transvestite reimagining of Lou Reed’s ‘Transformer’, a ‘Top of the Pops’-inspired Lipsync1000 sing-off, drag-e-oke and general sunset partying. It’s all set to be glorious.

River Stage runs Fri Jul 29-Aug 29
