Bad news if you live between Wembley Park and Aldgate and use the Metropolitan line to get home – TfL is about to stick a curfew on your evening fun. From May 16 the line will be closed from 10pm for at least two years. The early closing time will be in action from Monday to Wednesdays and on some weekends.

The closures are planned so that 6.4km of track between Baker Street and Finchley Road, which are currently prone to flooding, can be replaced.

On the bright side, this could be good news for your bank balance – think of the money you'll save on missing those last few rounds to catch the final tube.

Though if you're in the camp who would probably just resort to catching an Uber, bear in mind you can still hop on the Circle and Hammersmith and City lines between Aldgate and Baker Street, or the slower Jubilee line between Baker Street to Wembley Park.
