Dust off your lederhosen. German Bierfest is launching the biggest beer garden this city has ever seen in Mile End Park today, and all the staff will be dressed up in traditional Bavarian costume. The German-themed celebration will mark the start of spring with its whopping 2,000-seat open-air ‘Biergarten’. And as if that wasn’t enough to get you smashed, they’ll be serving beer in two-pint ‘steins’. Obviously, at German Bierfest, size matters.
The Bierfest features a German market and a ‘FunTime’ activity area – that bit’s aimed at kids but we reckon after you’ve had a few steins the games might look tempting. There’s also a Bavarian FestTent with table service, live music and DJs. And if you need to sober up there will be plenty of bratwurst, schnitzel, pretzels, cold meat and cheeses.
Basically, this is the biggest thing to happen to Mile End since that Pulp song.
German Bierfest will run between April 27-May 1 and May 4-7 at Mile End Park. Entrance to the Biergarten, German Village and activity are free, and the Bavarian FestTent is £5 to enter.
