Guess what, London? Transport costs are going up today. Happy New Year.

The bad news

Across TfL’s various services, fares are going to rise at an average of one percent, in line with RPI inflation. Notable increases include the Off-Peak Zones 1-2 fare (£2.30 to £2.40), and the Anytime Zones 1-6 Travelcard (£17 to £17.20).

The good news

On a chirpier note, single bus fares have been frozen, and free travel from under-11s will be extended to National Rail services. And residents of E15 may be pleased to hear that Stratford station is being officially re-zoned, now in both Zones 2 AND 3, meaning travelling to inner London will be cheaper. Yay! It’s not all doom and gloom!
