Warm August nights may be long gone, but you can enjoy the heat and the flavours of summer at the Eat Spain Drink Spain festival at the Truman Brewery this weekend. Spain is on top of its food game at the mo, so whether you’re dining out or cooking at home, there will be plenty of delicious inspiration.
Here are three reasons you need to go to Eat Spain Drink Spain…
1. Go ‘beyond the costas’
In the coming weeks, Eat Spain Drink Spain – a showcase of the best Spanish food and drink – will be taking over five of our most discerningly foodie cities – London, Birmingham, Leeds, Edinburgh and Manchester. The festival will reveal the very best of Spain’s artisan producers, cooking and regional dining, giving you the chance to explore beyond what you already love about Spanish food and drink, and sample wines featured in the Wines from Spain Awards 2016. These will be paired with chorizo, aged manchego cheese and olives.
2. Catch a tasting session
Whether you’re having a quiet night in a dos or hosting your very own fiesta at home, this is the perfect time to serve something special. Spanish wines are among the finest in the old world, from the peachy whites of Galicia to rich reds from Alicante, Jumilla and Valencia, to the bubbles of the Cava region. And that’s before you get to the crisp pale finos and the dark, complex sherries from the deep south of Spain! For Eat Spain Drink Spain, there are special tasting sessions at bars in each city, where you can sip your way around Spain and discover exciting new wines to share with friends, including a special wine workshop at Bedales of Borough Market.
3. Socialise over small plates
In Edinburgh The Assembly Rooms will welcome The Wine Gang, five renowned UK wine experts for an afternoon of wine discovery on 19 November. You can also head to Goya23 and enjoy an Ibérico platter when you have a bottle of wine. The festivities will also be in full swing in Manchester. The grand Town Hall is the fantastic venue for the Three Wine Men’s pre-Christmas wine tasting extravaganza, where they will be bringing Spain’s best wine and food for you to try.
