Imagine the English seaside minus the chance of soggy fish and chips, rain and sand in your bits. Now add 360-degree views of London into that mix. Dreamy, right? Well, ‘seaside in the sky’, a six-week pop-up from swanky City restaurant Searcys, is going to make that dream a reality.
Launching on July 24, way up on the 39th floor of the Gherkin, this coastal-themed extravaganza will feature candy-coloured beach huts, deck chairs and a fishing boat, as well as deliciously posh takes on true Brit dishes. Their version of fish and chips is cod poached in butter and served in squid ink scrap. Plus, the beach hut bar will be fully stocked with plenty of English sparkling wine and gin. It’s enough to make you come over all patriotic. Take me to the beach.
Seaside in the Sky is open from July 24 to 1 September at Searcys at The Gherkin, 30 St Mary Axe, EC3A 8EP.
