Pret's veggie pop-up in Soho could be sticking around a little longer

Just over two weeks ago, Pret decided to (temporarily) kick meat to the curb and open its first veggie pop-up in Soho. As part of a month-long experiment, they've gone totally veggie and added 45 new vegetarian and vegan recipes to the menu, including open sandwiches, hot protein pots, ready-to-blend smoothies and courgetti (of course).

It's fair to say that people have gone pretty nuts over the veggie Pret. In fact, it's been so successful (sales at the Broadwick Street branch are up 70 percent) that the CEO, Clive Schlee, says they're now considering extending the trial. There's even been talk of turning every fourth Pret into a veggie Pret. But don't panic, meat-lovers, nothing is set in stone yet.

And if you're worried it's all quinoa salads and protein shakes, let us reassure you: the top two best-sellers are the dairy-free chocolatey coconut bite (which basically tastes like a Bounty, but better) and the cacao and orange pot (which is like a Terry's chocolate orange in mousse form). See? Not so virtuous after all.
