We told you a few weeks ago that the guys behind Hot Tub Cinema and Pillow Cinema have launched a crowdfunding campaign to turn the back room of the old Castle Cinema on Chatsworth Road (currently part of Eat17 above the Spa supermarket) into an amazing new proper cinema. They've raised £33,000 out of the £45,000 they need and with six days still to go, they're taking it up a level. This weekend, they're creating a pop-up auditorium in the potential new space with a free screenings across Easter Sunday and Monday of 'Four Corners', a documentary which charts the history of cinema in the East End. Plus they'll be hosting a Q&A about the history (and future) of The Castle Cinema and hanging out at the bar to chat to local residents about the project. This will be the first screening at The Castle Cinema in 50 years, so be one of the first to check it out.
