Take a stroll past the London Eye or hang around near a London Underground sign (any one will do) and you're pretty much guaranteed to spot someone shamelessly brandishing their selfie stick. Like saying 'LOL' in real-life conversations, the selfie stick has gone from object of derision to ridiculously ubiquitous urban staple. And it looks like it ain't going anywhere because – brace yourselves – a selfie stick library is coming to London. Well, a library in the loosest sense of the word. From August 20, Southeastern trains will be launching a 'borrow a selfie stick' scheme at Waterloo East station, so that passengers are prepared for optimum selfie opportunities on their trip. Because if you didn't snap a selfie of you #lovinglife on your hols then it didn't happen, right?

From August 20 at Waterloo East, Canterbury West, Margate, Dover and Tonbridge station. Heaven help us all.
