'Frozen' became the highest-grossing movie animation ever made when it was released in 2013. Now Disney has finally given its long-awaited sequel a release date.

The good news is that 'Frozen 2' is happening. The bad news is that we've got to wait over two years before it lands in cinemas on November 27, 2019.

Disney announced the release date for 'Frozen 2' yesterday alongside a schedule of several other movies stretching into the future. That list includes the fifth Indiana Jones movie, which will open on July 10, 2020 (meaning that returning action star Harrison Ford will be 77 at the time). 'Star Wars: Episode IX' will open on May 24, 2019 and a live-action version of 'The Lion King' is coming in July 2019.

Not much is known about 'Frozen 2', although it's expected that directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee will return, as well as Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel, who provided the voices of Anna and Elsa in the original.

Presumably the race is now on behind the scenes to find a story and a suite of songs to match the triumph of the first 'Frozen'. In the meantime, a stage version will open in Denver in the US this August before moving to Broadway in spring 2018, and no doubt it will transfer to London soon after. Watch this space.

'Frozen 2' will open on November 27, 2019.
