You know what London needs? A switch that turns the bloody rain off. Still, we'd happily stay inside for a three-day extravaganza of awesome video games and interactive installations instead - which is lucky, because that's exactly what Somerset House is unleashing upon the city from this Friday. Now Play This will let people get lost in a giant fabric maze, play a 'one-dimensional game' where you guide an LED spotlight around a course (see right), visit a 'boardgame lounge', have a crack at a wooden pinball machine and try out shedloads of video games. Plus there's a thing called 'Fluc': a tent you can crawl inside and listen to the sound of rain. It features a dial that lets you change the sound as well as control the cloud patterns projected on to the roof. Which sounds really fun and... wait a minute. That IS a switch that turns the rain off! Games and a weather-controlling dial: it's every London geek's dream.

Now Play This is at Somerset House, Strand, WC2R 1LA on September 4-6.
