We’ve seen him do his fine dining thing, but now there’s news that ex-‘Masterchef’ judge and Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jr is set for a whole different kind of hospitality. Roux Jr will be overseeing the menu at The Wigmore, a new tavern opening up at the Langham Hotel

The Wigmore, set to open this summer, is said to be taking inspiration from classic British pubs and taverns. The bar will be run by the team that currently work at the Langham’s Artesian bar, with Michel putting together a menu of pub grub a million miles away from a Wetherspoons Curry Club. Dishes will include a raised veal and ham pie and a paprika-glazed short rib with a bone marrow crumb.

As with the hotel, it’ll be a fairly classy affair, with the team behind the look of Aquavit and Sexy Fish designing The Wigmore. But keeping it more pub-like, Bermondsey’s Brew by Numbers are said to be brewing a special house saison for the new tavern. We may have to start a petition to get Michel pouring the pints too; he’d make a good all-round guv’nor.

The Langham is at 1C Portland Place, W1B 1JA. The Wigmore is set to launch this summer, round the corner at 13 Langham Place, Upper Regent St, W1B 1JA.
