Not indulged in enough festive gluttony yet? Sounds like you need to embark on the mother of all Christmas challenges: the ‘Man vs Santa’ mince pie-eating competition at The Hand in Hand pub in Wimbledon this Wednesday.

Saint Nick is clearly the reigning champ when it comes to chowing down on mince pies – he eats millions on Christmas Eve alone for goodness’ sake! But if you think you could come in a close second, it’s time to step up. This annual charity challenge asks participants to eat as many mince pies as they can in three minutes.

As well as a place on the pub wall of fame and eternal gorging glory, the winning gobbler will be given 60 seconds behind the bar to pour as much draught as they can and a festive hamper from Sipsmith. It’s £3 to register and all money raised will go to the SW19 Women’s Institute. Oh, and everyone who takes part will be given a Santa hat – which conveniently doubles as a sick bag if it all gets a bit much.

Email handinhand@youngs.co.uk to reserve a spot.
