London is thirty-ninth on a list of the best cities in the world to live in

We might be biased, but we think this city is pretty damn great. Sure, the rent is overpriced, the air is pretty smoggy and there's a special place in hell for the Central line during rush hour, but let's not dwell on the bad stuff, eh? But it turns out not everyone agrees with us. Consulting firm Mercer has released its eighteenth Quality of Life survey and London is only thirty-ninth on the list. Vienna scooped the top spot, followed by Zurich, Auckland, Munich and Vancouver.

The survey looks at social and economic conditions, health, education, housing and the environment in 230 cities across the world. Apparently the big smoke lost out thanks to its levels of air pollution, traffic congestion and climate – damn those grey skies! But hey, New York only came in forty-fourth place, so don't feel too bad, London.

Anyway, who needs 'quality of life' when you've got rainbow bagels and Yorkshire pudding menus?
