London's about to get a whole lot hotter this September - but before you dig out your factor 50, we're talking spicy food rather than weather conditions. On September 17, the Festival of Heat is back in London for its third year, this time at Shoreditch's appropriately named Red Market. Chilli-enthusiasts will gather together for master classes, workshops and demonstrations on everything from growing the perfect chilli to how to make your own hot sauce, as well as putting their taste buds to the test with a whole lot of fiery food. Be warned: if a lemon and herb half chicken at Nando's is your idea of spicy, then this is not the place for you.

Red Market, 288 Old Street, EC1V 9LA. September 27. £7.50.

Get tickets to the Festival of Heat.

Can you handle the heat? Take a look at Southall's top spots for Punjabi food.

Or cool off with London's most lickable ice-creams.
