We've all got that irrational fear of somehow falling onto the tube tracks while waiting for a train (just us? Oh, okay). But on Tuesday at around 5pm, a 37-year-old man was waiting for a northbound Northern line tube at Tottenham Court Road when he felt unwell and fell onto the tracks. Luckily, an as-yet unnamed man wasted no time in jumping onto the tracks to pull him back to safety on the platform.
The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital, and officers have confirmed he will make a full recovery.
The police are now trying to trace the brave bystander to thank him for his courage and quick thinking. Superintendent Chris Horton, of the British Transport Police, said the man's actions avoided 'what could have been a tragedy'. He added: 'On behalf of everyone at British Transport Police, I'd like to commend this man for his brave actions – his quick thinking most likely saved the man's life'.
