Have you ever snuggled in to the crispy-clean silk sheets of a department store bed and thought, ‘If I just stay perfectly still, they might not notice me and I can spend the night here,’? Well, now you can live out your (slightly creepy) dreams without legal ramifications at ‘The Residence’, John Lewis’s first ever in-store apartment, at three of its stores (Oxford Street, Cambridge and Liverpool).
From today, you can apply to have to have a full-on sleepover in John Lewis with a night in The Residence. The idea is to create a full-on ‘try before you buy experience’. If you win the ballot for the overnight stay, you’ll get to choose your own sexy goose-feather bedding, pick out your own table settings and fill your boots with the upmarket beauty products in the bathroom. AND the wardrobe will be filled with clothes in the guest’s size.
Basically, it’s like a luxury version of ‘The Sims’, where you can play Interior Design God in one of the UK’s most famous shops. Did we mention there will be a concierge on hand throughout the night? Try not to go mad with power. If you lose out, there’s still a chance to have a ‘dream dinner party’ in the space, served by a private chef.
Sleepovers will take place at the three stores on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 or Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 of September. Remember, The Residence is not for keeps. Eventually you will wake up in John Lewis in your pants, and be asked to leave, no matter how many times you tell security you ‘actually live there’.
You can apply for those golden tickets to The Residence here.
No joy? Book yourself a legit sleepover at one of these London hotels instead.
