You know what most nights out are missing? A chance to brush up on your DIY skills. Whilst drunk. But that's all about to change, thanks to a new pop-up bar that's bringing a whacky German game to east London. Hammerschlagen, for the uninitiated, involves hammering nails into tree trunks in as few whacks as you can manage. As well as getting rid of some pent-up frustration, the game also provides an opportunity to knock a couple of quid off your bar tab, as you play against the bartender to try and get free drinks. They'll be serving up plenty of German beer and firing up the grill for some German-style BBQ every evening, so you can stuff your face with frankfurters before you start playing with nails. Getting hammered while playing with actual hammers – what could go wrong?

Entry is free but nails cost 50p to play Hammerschlagen. Find out more on The DOT Facebook page.

Hammerschlagen is at The DOT Cafe & Bar, 79 Stoke Newington Road, N16 8AD. September 1–October 31, Tuesday–Sunday, 8am–2am.
