Our mates at LondOntheInside have rounded up five things they’re pretty damn excited about this month.
Sunday Roasting, Vinoteca Farringdon, July 3
We love a good Sunday roast and when it comes with unlimited wine, we’re definitely not complaining. Vinoteca’s next family-style feast includes super generous portions - that’s starters, platters of roast meats, all the trimmings, dessert AND free-flowing vino including Provence Rose. £40 = fool to miss out.
Texas Joe’s Slow Smoked Meats, Bermondsey, July 4
We're big fans of barbecue grub, so we’re pretty darn excited to hear that Texas Joe is riding into town with ‘low and slow’ beef brisket, mutton shoulder, and ribs in tow. Note the opening date too. What better way to celebrate the U-S of A in all its glory. We will eat to that.
50 percent off at Rok Islington, July 4–July 6
One of our fave little restaurants (the place that serves THAT cauliflower cheese), Rok Smokehouse in Shoreditch is set to open site number two. This is good news because A) the original is pretty small and B) there’s a soft launch with 50 percent off food for three days. Book at islington@roklondon.com but be fast – tables won’t last long.
Citadel, Victoria Park, July 17
Another festival right in our east London ‘hood. Citadel may be one of the newbies on the block, only getting started last year, but they’re winning us over with a tight line-up, plenty of non-musical activities and killer street food. Sigur Ros and a Patty & Bun burger? Yes please.
Giant Water Slide, Alexandra Palace, July 23
Nothing says summer quite like a water slide, and when a giant 100-metre-long one returns to Ally Pally, you can bet we’re gonna fling ourselves down it. Time to get wet ‘n’ wild, folks. See you at the bottom.
