Everybody knows there's no such thing as a free lunch in London. But who the hell cares about lunch when you've got free vinyl? Yep, at the House Clearance Party this weekend punters can take home more than just memories of dancing to top tunes – they can take home the tunes as well. The two generous DJs will be giving away every seven-inch single they play to the crowd, over the course of the night.
There are no strings attached (that would be cruel – funny, but cruel), though you’ll have to be quick, eager and sharp of elbow to grab the grooves. The two selectors have built-up their vast vinyl base through purchasing other DJs' collections, raiding charity shops (not literally, that's totes illegal) and attending house clearances – hence the name. But forget about all their hard work in acquiring mountains of vinyl – all that matters is they're giving it away, after playing it first, of course.
There’ll be disco, funk, hip hop, Motown, northern soul, hip hop, '80s and '90s jams aired and shared, plus multiple copies of Jacko’s ‘Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough’. Plus you can sip craft beer while you talk grabbing tactics with your pals, and as the whole thing takes place in Bloomsbury Lanes, you can even go bowling.
Dance, have fun and get yourself some lovely vinyl, just don't actually hurt anyone in the process – music's all about peace and love and togetherness and stuff. Unless it's free, in which case you can stomp on as many feet and heads as you like. GO GO GO.
The House Clearance Party is at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes on Saturday August 22. More info here.
