Back in November, there was talk of London’s largest black cab training school Knowledge Point shutting its doors due to rising rents on Caledonian Road and competition from the likes of Uber. The school has been around since 1989, training up cabbies to master 'The Knowledge' and know their way around 25,000 streets, nooks and crannies in the capital – without the aid of Google Maps. It set a whole new standard for cab driving, so understandably, people weren't pleased with the news. But call it a Christmas miracle: a few days before the holiday, the school was offered the chance to continue its classes in the premises of black cab dealer The London Taxi Company, rent-free. And now, school's back in session just a few yards from the former Knowledge Point site. Phew!
Find out why the black cab has been voted the most iconic London transport design.
