If you spot a load of waiters running through Hyde Park tomorrow, don't be alarmed – it's part of the annual National Waiters Day race. From 2pm, a load of London waiters will be competing in an egg-and-spoon-style race (but with trays and cups) in a bid to be crowned the speediest server in the capital. It's been organised by the Springboard Charity, which helps the young and unemployed find jobs in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry.

Best of all though, Fred Sirieix, aka Fred from 'First Dates' will be down there leading the celebrations – so now's your time to get a selfie with the smoothest maître d' on TV. As well as being a bearded love guru and all-round great guy, Fred is also the general manager at Michelin-starred restaurant Galvin at Windows. As always, he's even got some wise words if you want to get into the hospitality business: 'There has never been a more exciting time to both join and succeed in this very special industry. If you can dream it, you can do it'. Yes you can, Fred. Yes you can.
