Don’t stay in – go out and stay out all night. Here’s your essential party schedule for the weekend ahead.

David Brent: Life On The Road Party

If anyone can wring some actual fun out of the Brentmeister General’s return, it’s the Ritzy. They’re recreating a night out in Slough, ‘The Office’-style. That means a quiz, a live set from a Foregone Conclusion tribute act and a DJ set from original cast member Ewen MacIntosh aka Big Keith. Bring your own Martin Freeman lookalike for those all-important comic glances to camera. Ritzy Cinema Brixton. Fri Aug 19.

The South London Soul Train Disco Special

For their tribute to Studio 54, party pros SLST have managed to book one of the hallowed and hedonistic New York club’s original DJs: John Morales. Head to Peckham to hear the original re-edit master in action. CLF Art Cafe (The Bussey Building). Sat Aug 20.

Burning Down The House

The glammed-up east London night returns to spin the best songs of the ’80s plus a side-portion of funk and disco in a sweaty Dalston basement, with entry just a fiver on the door. Fair warning: you may end up picking glitter out of your hair for the next week or so. VFD. Sat Aug 20.

6Ts Northern Soul All-Nighter

Keep the faith at this all-night party where serious Northern Soul fans throw energetic shapes to rare vinyl classics. Now that the Central line is finally 24-hour, you don’t even have to stay till 6am to get the tube home! Though you may still want to. 100 Club. Sat Aug 20.

Lex XV Anniversary Party

Celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of London indie label Lex Records with a free Shoreditch rooftop party. Purveyors of wonky, experimental hip hop (previous acts include Doom and Danger Mouse), Lex have got Boom Bip, Andrew Hung of Fuck Buttons and Dolenz DJing at their birthday bash. What else are you going to do with your Sunday? Ace Hotel. Sun Aug 21.
