Five festive tap takeovers in London this December

December is traditionally reserved for libations and merriment. In the interest of avoiding awkward booze-fueled bonding sessions with co-workers, we’ve compiled a list of five festive tap takeovers happening around London this month. These are definitely worth bunking off your office Christmas party for.

Five Points Brewing Co at The Gun

Hackney’s Five Points Brewing Company heads to the Gun with an ample quantity of beer in tow. They’re celebrating East End Independents’ Day and the launch of Well Street Market by commandeering the Gun's taps. In addition to keeping your glasses filled, the Five Points team will be on hand to chat about their range, the brewery’s history and what’s in the pipeline for 2017. The Gun is an East London fixture and the beer guaranteed to satisfy, so it’s worth putting your Saturday afternoon aside for a quick one (or pull up a stool and stay all day, we won’t judge). The Gun, 235 Well Street, E9 6RG. Dec 3, 1pm-5pm.

Moor Beer at the EeBria Taproom

Bristol’s Moor Beer Company was recently recognised by CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) as the first brewery in the world to successfully can-condition real ale – that means that live yeast and natural carbonation survive the canning process. They're also responsible for some seriously delicious beers, some of which will be showcased at the EeBria taproom. If you need a break from drinking, there’s air hockey and shuffleboard tables to keep you on your game. But we reckon that after a few sips, you’ll be happy to drink more of Moor. Rumour has it that the last remaining keg of their JJJ Imperial Pale Ale will be on offer. EeBria Taproom, 15 Almond Road, SE16 3LR. Dec 3, 11am-5pm.

Members tap takeover at UBREW

UBREW is an open brewery where members are occasionally invited to serve their own beer to the general public. For this event, all of the beers will have a Christmas motif – think lashings of cloves and perhaps even a mince-pie-inspired brew. Santa hats are strongly encouraged and expect a soundtrack good enough to get even the grinches twerking. There will also be some playful and unusual beers, perfect for a festive and boozy afternoon. Dec 10, 12.30pm–9pm. UBREW, 24 Old Jamaica Road, SE16 4AW.

Redemption Brewing at The Rake

The Rake, that Borough institution, is hosting Redemption Brewing Company for a meet the brewer and tap takeover. Redemption was quiet while they moved to a brand new brewery in Tottenham, but now they’re back and killing it. The beer tastes great and this is the perfect opportunity to reacquaint yourself with it. Merchandise will be raffled off and there’s even a bit of wink-wink, nudge-nudge about some very special beers making an appearance. You better head down to The Rake to find out for yourself, though. Dec 14, 5pm-11pm. The Rake, 14 Winchester Walk, SE1 9AG.

Siren at The Adam & Eve

You won’t Adam and Eve it, but Wokingham’s Siren Craft Brew is Homerton-bound, bringing a range of their deliciously seductive beers to this popular boozer. You'll also get a chance to meet the brewers themselves – and make sure you grab a bite from the pub’s excellent kitchen, with a menu of burgers and classic pub fare. Dec 15, 6pm–midnight. Adam & Eve, 155 Homerton High Street, E9 6AS.
