The north-south/east-west divide doesn't just extend to our coffee orders and going out habits – apparently which part of London we're from also has an effect on our Halloween costume preferences. According to fancy dress shop Angels, anyway.

The Shaftesbury Avenue store has analysed sales trends after flogging over 30,000 fancy dress items in the lead up to Halloween, to reveal their take on the most popular outfits by area. They reckon fallen angels are a favourite across London, while west Londoners are all about the LOL costume, with bananas and sumo suits selling out.

Here are all of its predictions for the dress troops you'll be seeing over the Halloween weekend, according to area:

East London

Craft beer lovers in east are loving Bavarian-themed costumes, with cows and fallen angels following closely.

Central London

Central it's all about the I'm-pretty-but-scary aesthetic, with gothic ballerinas and fallen angels selling out.

North London

North London is keeping it traditional with vampires, skeletons and, er, Ghostbusters topping the list of best-sellers.

South-east London

The guys in south-east are going vintage with Tom Cruise's Top Gun character topping the best-sellers list.

South west London

It's fallen angels vs devil onesies for SW.

North-west London

Corpse brides and creepy Victorian dolls will be gathering in north-west London come Halloween, with the mad hatter also proving a popular choice.

West London

The favourite party pieces for west Londoners are apparently sumo suits and bananas (that's both zombie bananas and regular bananas, FYI).

Need somewhere to wear that costume? Here's our pick of the best Halloween parties and events.
