The flagship show in this year’s Manchester International Festival – headed to London for a National Theatre run later this year – is the first ever musical by that multi-talented friend of MIF, Damon Albarn. Co-written with playwright Moira Buffini and directed by the NT’s new boss Rufus Norris, it’s a twenty-first century reworking of ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderand’, in which our heroine plunges down a digital rabbit hole.

Following this week’s previews, it opens at the Manchester Palace Theatre on Thursday night. Ahead of that, we’ve got an exclusive short behind-the-scenes documentary on the show, in which Damon and collaborators talk about their journey through the looking glass.
