The government’s so-far pretty vague plans as to what will happen when Britain leaves the EU have caused a lot of grumbling of late. However, it appears one Downing Street regular is all for Theresa May’s ‘red, white and blue Brexit’ vision. Larry the Downing Street cat was spotted wearing a brand new Union Jack collar this week, sparking rumours he may have received a special Christmas present from the PM.

The Chief Mouser has certainly blossomed since he was found at Battersea Dogs and Cats home in 2011 and brought to Number 10 to tackle its rodent problem.

He's looked after by Downing Street’s civil servants, and word from Number 10 is that they were probably responsible for Larry’s new patriotic accessory.

Larry's become infamous for his tooth-and-nail fights with the Foreign Office's cat Palmerston and in 2011 David Cameron told BBC Radio 2 that he's a 'bit nervous' around men, apart from Obama apparently. 'Obama gave him a stroke and he was alright with Obama', he added. We can only wonder how Donald Trump will fare with the feline.

In other animal news, there's a new London bus tour for dogs.

And a police horse was spotted getting on board a double decker bus in Islington.
