Despite claims that the Calais ‘Jungle’ has been cleared, there are still over 5,000 people living in the camp with more arriving every day. Play 4 Calais is a London-based charity dedicated to making the lives of refugees in Calais a little more bearable, by arranging film screenings and football matches for residents. On June 10, to coincide with the start of Euro 2016, they’re hosting a whole day of matches on a pitch paid for by donations, in an effort to distract, just a little, from the grim reality of everyday life in the camps. And they’re urgently looking for added funds to make this a possibility.
