For one night only, on July 14, David Bowie will make a posthumous appearance in cinemas around the UK. Back in the summer of 2013, film-goers who missed the terrific V&A exhibition 'David Bowie Is' were able to experience the landmark show on cinema screens as a documentary. Since then, the show has toured the world, and now the film is returning to cinemas in the wake of Bowie's death this January.
The film takes viewers through the exhibition, capturing the music, the costumes, the artwork, the videos and more, and it includes talking-head contributions from the likes of Jarvis Cocker and the artist Jeremy Deller. It went down a storm when it was first shown in cinemas, and here's a chance to catch it again knowing that the light has gone out on Bowie's life and career. We suspect it might be more of a weepy the second time around.
'David Bowie Is' will be in cinemas around the UK on Thursday July 14. Find out more at davidbowiefilm.com.
