Crossrail may have been renamed the Elizabeth line but what about its proposed sequel, Crossrail 2? Well, it's still called Crossrail 2 (for now), but it might be closer to getting the green light.
Last year Chancellor George Osborne set up the national infrastructure commission to advise the government on long-term infrastructure projects, and the commission has said that if London doesn't prioritise developing Crossrail 2, the capital will 'grind to a halt'. Doesn't sound ideal. But we're going to need to raise some cash, and quickly. The commission has suggested London should pay for half of construction costs and that Transport for London and the Department for Transport Funds should release funds for the project by 2017, to make sure construction is finished by 2033.
See behind the scenes of Crossrail's tunnel digging.
And in other transport news, Holborn tube station is trialling standing on both sides of the escalator for six months.
