City envy: we want robot bartenders like Las Vegas

Nobody likes their bar staff to be too robotic, right? Service with a smile is still one sign of a quality boozer. Or that’s what we thought, until we heard about one bar in Las Vegas. The staff at The Tipsy Robot bash out cocktail after cocktail like absolute machines – because that’s exactly what they are.

The nifty mechanical arms take just a minute to make a drink, and it’s created with total precision. Punters order using tablets, so there’s no more queuing, and it’s bye-bye human effort all round. And when they’re not hard at work, the robo-tenders even have a little boogie to the bar’s music (Kraftwerk, maybe?).

Much as we love humans, we quite fancy seeing one or two of Sin City’s mechanical mixologists doing The Robot in London soon – although we’re not sure we’d order an old fashioned.

Now discover the things you only know if you’re a (human) bartender.
