Los Angeles isn’t the best city for goths. Too much sun, y’know? But you can expect the city’s pallid weirdos to turn out in force for a new pop-up bar opening in Hollywood this week: Beetle House.

Taking over the Prospect Theater space, it’s an unofficial, immersive tribute to the creepy world of Tim Burton. Already a runaway success in New York, the concept hinges on OTT decor (including an interactive replica of the town in ‘Beetlejuice’) and Burton-themed food and drinks – from black-and-white striped cocktails to Sweeney Beef and the Cheshire Mac.

It all sounds hilarious, and we’d be well up for a version in London – after all, this is Mr B’s adopted hometown. Though having to play along with a waiter dressed like Jack Skellington when all you want is a nice dinner might test that British reserve a tad.

Can’t make it to LA? Here are London’s best pop-ups.
