The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting colder, and you’ve finally relented and dug out your winter coat. But the change of seasons doesn’t mean you have to go into hibernation. Rather than spending your nights holed up on the sofa, the folks at Highland Park whisky distillery are inviting you to make the most of your evenings at their Midwinter Søcial.
To celebrate Winter Solstice, the Orkney-based distillery has taken inspiration from its Viking heritage and given The Boiler House in Brick Lane a Nordic makeover for two nights of wintry festivities. Get ready to feel a whole lot of hygge, as they’ll have a roaring fire, Nordic-inspired food stalls curated by the gastronomic gurus at Root + Bone magazine, and of course, plenty of high-class whisky. And if you’re not content just drinking the good stuff, they’ll also be hosting talks where you can learn about the distilling process and how to tell the difference between various ages of whisky.
Once you’re all clued up, strike a pose in the photobooth, create your own personal screen print to take home, and throw some shapes on the dance floor while house DJ Finnebassen and producer-DJ Eelke Kleijn spin some banging tunes.
