The BT Tower is reaching the big 5-0 today. And, rather than hitting the pub for a few pints with the lads, it's decided to celebrate by projecting the words 'I'm 50 today!' around the infoband at the top. Sounds a bit egotistical to us, mate.

Anyway, to be fair to the legendary tower it is pretty special. It was finished on October 8 1965. It is 189 metres tall, which is the equivalent of 25 double-decker buses parked end to end. It has a revolving floor that spins a full cycle every 22 minutes. Neat-o.

To celebrate, we rounded up the best Instagram pics of the old boy!
