It’s National Beer Day this Thursday and ale sorbet is now a thing. Stop pinching yourself – this is not some sort of sweet, boozy parallel universe. Ale sorbet is the real-life brainchild of east London gelato-maker La Gelatiera and Crate Brewery. Best of all? La Gelatiera is giving away scoops of it for free from 1pm on the big beer day.
American Nut Brown Ale sorbet – which is dairy-free and suitable for vegans, FYI – is based on one of Crate’s bestselling brews. We’re not entirely sold on the whole beer-as-an-ice-cream thing, but Crate and La Gelatiera are billing this scoop as ‘sweet, nutty and smooth as hell’. Which has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Anyway, it’s free and it’s alcoholic. So we’re in.
American Nut Brown Ale sorbet is available on Thu Jun 15 from 1pm at La Gelatiera, 1 West Park Walk, East Village, E20 1DH.
