It’s no surprise that Bread Ahead’s superlative, cream-splurting doughnuts are among the city’s best; co-founder Justin Gellatly is formerly of St John, which, when not serving up offal, pretty much started the new-fangled London doughnut trend.

All the more thrilling, then, that Bread Ahead has devised a nifty new Christmas doughnut to prise us all out of this godforsaken seasonal slump. What’s more, they’re chocolate orange flavoured (like Terry’s!). Not only that, but their Seven Dials bakery will be dishing out 100 of them for free, from 5pm on Thursday 17 November. In work? Sucks for you, but they’ll be available to buy from November 18 up until Christmas Eve at all Bread Ahead’s bakeries.

Not sated yet? Then check out our rankings of the five finest London doughnuts.

And you can now get the original cronut in London
