It was the sequel no one thought they wanted, until Harrison Ford signed up, Ryan Gosling got on board and ‘Arrival’ director Denis Villeneuve was hired to replace Ridley Scott. Now ‘Blade Runner 2049’ is one of 2017’s buzziest films. The first trailer has just arrived, featuring a head-to-head between Ford and RyGos.
'Blade Runner 2049' picks up 30 years after the events of the original. What do we learn from the trailer? That Rick Deckard (Ford), the android hunter who might actually be an android himself, is in hiding. He pulls out a gun on Gosling (is he an android hunter too?), who’s just crossed a dusty apocalyptic-y landscape to find him. ‘I did your job once. I was good at it,’ Ford growls.
The first movie's themes of corporate power and how intelligent computers and the rise of Artificial Intelligence might change everything – for better or worse – is bigger than ever. We can't wait to see where Villeneuve, Gosling and the gang take 'Blade Runner 2049'.
