Campaigners from the Black Lives Matter movement have brought traffic to a standstill on a main road into Heathrow airport, by chaining themselves to the tarmac this morning. The protest marks five years since the death of Mark Duggan, who was shot by police in Tottenham in August 2011 – an incident which sparked the London riots.

Police said that ten people have been arrested in relation to today's protest. The demonstration was part of a nationwide shutdown today, and there have been similar protests near Birmingham Airport and on the tram tracks in Nottingham city centre.
