BIG NEWS: Frank Ocean is playing London next year

Holy expletive. Frank Ocean will be headlining next year’s Lovebox Festival. Yes, you read that right. The Frank Ocean: elusive genius, fine ass songwriter, master carpenter and premier soundtracker of sexual encounters is coming (no pun intended) to Victoria Park on July 14.

Ocean last played London in July 2013, though that doesn’t mean he hasn’t visited our city since then. London actually became a refuge from the intense pressure surrounding his follow-up to 2012’s ‘Channel Orange’. He packed a rucksack of precious hard drives containing sessions for his second album ‘Blonde’ and flew to London, recording at Abbey Road, hotel-hopping across the city and riding an electric bike. So you know that hot guy you saw whizzing around Clapton looking a lot like Frank Ocean? It probably was Frank Ocean.

Lovebox has scored a massive coup booking Ocean for their fifteenth festival, as this is his only London date on a European tour. See you down the front, and prepare to swoon.

This is the week for big festival announcements: Aphex Twin will be playing Field Day Festival 2017.
