Bette Midler has won Halloween. The 70-year-old star dressed up as her 'Hocus Pocus' character for her annual spooky soiree and instantly made your handmade cat ears look like the cut up cereal box they really are.

Midler brought her beloved 'Hocus Pocus' character Winifred Sanderson back from the dead, 23 years after she terrified the bejesus out of cinema-going children in the early nineties.

The Sanderson sister's trademark red up-do, sassy robes and over-sized teeth were all back for the New York Restoration Project's Hulaween ball.

Sadly (or thankfully, depending on how traumatised you were by 'Hocus Pocus' as a kid) Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker were nowhere to be seen.

Kesley Grammer also channeled his 'Simpsons' character Sideshow Bob for Halloween this year. He stepped out as the would-be serial killer, a character he has voiced since the show's inception, at Kate Hudson's Casamigos Halloween party on Friday. How this has never happened before we don't know but it's wonderful.
