Foodie fingers at the ready. The team behind Bao have just opened up the hotline, and the inevitable floodgates, for bookings at their follow-up restaurant Xu. Yes, that’s right, you can book!

Xu is a swanky Taiwanese restaurant opening its doors on Wednesday May 31 on Soho’s Rupert Street. Set across two floors, the 76-cover restaurant takes its name after chef Erchen Chang’s late grandfather and will have a slightly more formal feel than wildly successful twin sisters Bao and Bao Fitzrovia.

As well as focusing on Taiwanese heritage dishes, the menu will take in influences from the team’s travels across mainland China and dishes will include crab with chilli egg drop sauce and pan-fried ‘shengjian bao’ soup dumplings. Xu will also have a dedicated tea bar on its ground floor, with an in-house tea sommelier (yes, that’s a job).

So what are you waiting for? Lines have just opened for bookings: dial 3319 8147 and leave those queuing days behind you.

Xu is set to launch on Wednesday May 31 at 30 Rupert St, W1D 6DL.
