Shooting was barely underway on videogame adaptation 'Assassin's Creed' when star Michael Fassbender started talking sequels. There were obvious reasons for the Fass's glowing optimism: unlike your average game-to-screen flick, this time-hopping adventure has a 'proper' director – 'Snowtown' and 'Macbeth' helmsman Justin Kurzel – and a heavyweight cast: not just Fassbender himself, but Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson and even Omar from 'The Wire', Michael Kenneth Williams. This clearly wasn't going to be the next 'Resident Evil'.

Well, now the trailer's here and we can begin to judge for ourselves. Sure, it contains all the running, jumping and fast-kicking action you'd expect from a movie like this – but the visuals are spectacular, and the performances look seriously weighty. The film's out on December 26 – and we're officially excited.
