When you think of swanky skyscrapers decked out with sky-high bars and floating swimming pools, your first thought probably isn't 'Croydon'. But that's exactly where a Chinese construction firm has signed a £500 million deal to build a new skyscraper called One Lansdowne Road. Inspired by Battersea's Nine Elms 'sky pool', the proposed building would be made up of two tower blocks – 68-storeys and 37-storeys high – connected by a 25-metre glass-bottomed swimming pool on the fourteenth floor. The firm also has plans for a rooftop bar on the 67th floor – the highest bar in Europe, which would surely be the most exciting thing to happen to Croydon since Kate Moss. The development will also include 160,000 square feet of office space as well as 184 studio apartments, 419 one-bedroom flats, 334 two-beds, 12 three-beds and 12 penthouse suites, which will undoubtably all be eye-wateringly expensive. But there's good news if you're into aquatic activities at great heights, as the pool is set to be open to the public, which means sky-high swimming for all.
