There's a new way to spend a penny in London and it's got nothing to do with going to the toilet. New Covent Garden café The Black Penny is taking inspiration from its name and offering – wait for it – prosecco for a penny. Yep, one measly penny = one lovely glass of fizz. This is not a drill. They're popping the cork on the offer this Saturday (August 29) and it will run every Saturday and Sunday, 9am-3pm.

But to stop you getting completely wasted with your small change, there's one small catch – you'll need to buy one large plate or two small plates of food for every glass of the 1p bubbles. A glass of prosecco at The Black Penny would usually set you back £7 so it's a pretty sweet saving, which can go straight back into your 'emergency' booze fund.

From August 29. Every Saturday and Sunday, 9am-3pm. 34 Great Queen Street, WC2B 5AA.
