Like most Londoners, you probably find yourself picking up a kilo of M&M’s in Leicester Square at least three times a week. No? Well, from Wednesday, there’ll be a new way to liven up your central London shenanigans.

Video: light-up see-saws in London

A series of bouncing beams – last spotted in snowy Montreal (pictured) – will be installed in the square’s gardens for three weeks as part of the ‘Pause and Play’ series. The installation, called ‘Impulse’, is made up of 15 interactive, lightup, singing seesaws which glow soothingly and emit pleasing chimes with each bounce. Aside from creating a kidult’s paradise, the aim is to combat post-summertime blues and mild seasonal affective disorder with light therapy. Plus, more importantly, they’ll make the tourist-dodging walk through Leicester Square actually worth it. Something for the young, old and SAD alike.
